PERMS Integrator
The yearly maintenance and support for PERMS Integrator that NGB
handles has still not been renewed. We are currently waiting on a
new contract, but hope that it will be forthcoming soon.
NOTE: If you install the latest version of
PERMS Integrator or the TwinEnginesWebSetup, please make sure you
install the latest version of the other at the same time. Some of
the integration between PERMS Integrator and our TwinEngines Web
Apps has required that you upgrade both at the same time for this
release.
Discharges
Version 10.7.5 of the TwinEngines Web App Suite is now
available. The new version of the NGB22 form has still not been
"officially" released yet, but once it is released, we will be
incorporating this form in the new version of Discharges, not the
old one. If you are interested in a training session to get your
users over to the new system, just contact me and we can set up a
DCS.
In the new version of Discharges, we can customize the workflow
behind how the NGB22 case is handled. So far we have seen two basic
workflows that the states are using. Some states do all the work at
the state level, including filling out the form and getting the
authorizing officer signature. Other states want to push the work
down to the Battalion level, having the NGB22 filled out there
along with the authorizing officer's signature, then have the G1
review it prior to completion. The system allows you to customize
which way you would like to handle it. Other customizations that we
have been doing for states include:
• A task that gets assigned to the RPAM section to close out the
RPAM statement and generate the NGB23. After this is completed,
another task is created and assigned to the person updating the
NGB22. It notifies them the RPAM statement has been closed out and
to review the Soldier's period of Service.
• Ability to add the Discharge Certificates to the case and have
them sent to PERMS via PERMS Integrator.
• Assigning the NGB22 cases to the Officers and Enlisted branch
based off of MPC. Contact me to get the workflow implemented in
your state that you would like to see.
RCAS v7.14
The new version of RCAS, v7.14, which moves the RCAS servers to
Server 2012R2, has begun rolling out to several states. After the
upgrade, we've run into several states having issues with the
VTE_USER account and accessing the RCAS database server. There are
multiple items that can cause issues and we've documented them in
this FAQ:

Case Management
We continue to enhance and improve the case management system
with new features and functions that will help you customize
workflow/approval processes. A lot of these are being used within
the Discharges and Awards Tracking systems. See our online demos

ETrans Manager
We are currently working on a major upgrade for ETrans Manager.
If you attended the Personnel Systems Workshop over the summer in
Oklahoma City, you saw me do a quick demo of this system. The
system is a total revamp of the existing system and is built on top
of our Case Management technology. You will be able to create
customized workflows to do additional tasks and approvals for any
transaction that comes through ETrans Manager. That includes both
the gains transactions, and the transactions we pull in through
MILPO Orders.
We hope to have a beta version available for testing within the
next month or two.
